First thing, I’ve had this blog for a while and just noticed I never completed the about me page. I’m usually more organized and on top of tasks but this one slid right past me.
I’m a Jane of all Trades. I love creating, but tend to jump from one project to another. I can knit, crochet, use a drop spindle, weave on an inkle loom, basic leather working, basic sewing, cross-stitch and embroidery. I’m working on sketching and painting regularly. I have finished a few paintings and even sold one. A goal is to get items stocked in my Etsy store and maybe turn my hobbies into a side hustle.
I’ve taken piano lessons and played clarinet in high school. I taught myself to play a 22 string lap harp but didn’t keep up with practicing. I’m learning now to play ukulele.
I used to dance but quit 10 years ago because I was told as a child “You won’t be able to dance when you’re 40” … which is why I had piano instead of ballet lessons. I have performed Irish step dancing (both hard and soft shoe) for a Catholic school reunion and I have belly danced at festivals and showcases. I’m returning to mindful movement with yoga to regain strength, balance and flexibility. I’ve aged more than last 10 years not dancing than I had the previous 20 years I had danced.
Finally, I enjoy being outside. I started geocaching in 2012 and I’m a very casual cacher. I’m approaching my 400 mark, with 2018 being my most active year so far. I love solving puzzle caches. They intimidated me for so long but now I have a list of solved puzzles I need to get out and sign.
